This weekend, I took part in a local art exhibition — a day full of creativity, friendly faces, and a real sense of community. I set up a small display of my work, featuring some of my favourite pieces — from detailed animal portraits to colourful landscape scenes.

As I have never exhibited my work before seeing them all framed and together on the tables felt really special (and a little surreal!).

But what made the day truly meaningful was the reason behind it. The event was organised in support of my daughter-in-law Tara's fundraising as she prepares to run the London Marathon for Mind, the mental health charity. Mind does such important work helping people who are struggling, so it felt amazing to be able to play a small part in supporting that cause.

With the proceeds going directly to Tara’s fundraising for Mind, it felt great knowing that my art could contribute to something that makes a real difference. The framed giclee prints of my artworks from the Eyecon series created great interest with the result being to encourage me to expand the range and the next Eyecon “Cat” is already underway.

I will be producing a blog about the development of Cat in the next few weeks.

The atmosphere on the day was wonderful — relaxed, friendly, and full of genuine interest from visitors who stopped to chat about the artwork. I had some lovely conversations about technique, inspiration, and the stories behind each piece. Moments like that remind me why I love creating and sharing art so much.

A huge thank you to everyone who came along, supported, and helped raise funds for Tara’s marathon challenge. It was a day filled with art, community spirit, and purpose — and I couldn’t have asked for more.

For those who expressed an interest in supporting I have enclosed below a link to Tara’s just giving page.
